Happy New Year! 2012 is going to be a great year, I can feel it. It’s week #2 of the session and students have already made a lot progress and are off to a great start.

We have set goals for the new year, too. One of them is to make Kinetic Theory the top circus school in the U.S. I think we are on the the right track, with our fantastic coaching team of award-winning and internationally recognized teachers:

December Newsletter

2011, wow what a year. I think this year was one of the fastest years on record, it just flew by! There were so many great highlights from 2011though:

  • Expressions, our 3rd student cabaret show, in April
  • Summer troupe shows at the Skirball Center and The Muckenthaler Cultural Center
  • The Incredible Mr. Nobody in August
  • Alchemy & Absinthe at The Edison in September
  • Illusions in October
  • and, of course, the progress and growth of so many inspired students!

I know, personally, I learned a lot this year. I can’t believe that a year has gone by since I was planning the expansion of the studio. I feel so at home in the new space, it feels like we’ve always been here. As I look towards the future, I look forward to seeing our students continue to build their skills and explore their creativity, be inspired and find their passion, imagine and create and achieve their dreams. This is still just the beginning…

2012 is going to be the year of the creative process. Even if your goal for this coming year is just to get into better shape, being creative and having fun really takes the edge off of your workout. Just remember:

“Progress is a process”, that’s a Stephanie original ;)

ON-SITE MASSAGE & BODYWORK AT KT

We are very pleased to announce that we now have a massage therapist on site at KT! Sabrina Jackson is an experienced, certified massage therapist that works with many dancers and athletes. She will be offering Swedish, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage sessions beginning in December. Her services will be offered in the “stretch room” above the main office. This cozy space is private, warm and quite relaxing.

A note from Sabrina:
Hello KT students. My name is Sabrina, and I will be the new resident massage therapist at Kinetic Theory.  I am thrilled to have this opportunity to get to know each and every one of you both in classes and in the the massage room.  As a graduate of the Masters Massage Program at California Healing Arts College, my work is intuitive, nurturing, and supported by specific massage science.  I am a National Academy Of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, a pole dance instructor and have an extensive dance background in several styles of dance.  What this means for you is that I understand what your bodies go through and know what you need.  I offer a combination of dancer specific sports massage and I am eager to learn more about the needs of circus artists of all disciplines. My clients include USPDF Pole Dance Champions (and Kinetic Theory students): Natasha Wang, Mina Mortezaie and Alethea Austin as well as many other celebrated athletes and artists.

Massage Rates & Descriptions:
Enrolled KT Students/Parents- $40 for 50 min OR $55 for 80 min
General Public- $55 for 50 minutes OR $75 for 80 min

Sports Massage:
Increase flexibility with this interactive massage that combines compression, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (specific therapist assisted passive and active stretching techniques) and deep tissue. This is a popular choice for athletes and performers, and is a goal oriented therapeutic modality. While it can certainly feel nice, it’s not the choice if you are looking to zone out and relax.

Swedish Massage:
A full body nurturing experience that will address superficial musculature, improve circulation, enhance digestion, and leave you relaxed and energized.  This is the right choice if you want to let go into that wonderful “massage space” of  half awake half asleep dreamy goodness!

Shiatsu Massage:
The perfect choice for those interested in natural healing. This clothed style of massage uses palming, compressions, and stretches to stimulate energy centers and meridians in the body to bring balance to the internal organs therefore assisting the body in self healing.

Deep Tissue Massage:
Great for those who have chronic pain in specific areas. Unlike Swedish, where the whole body is addressed, deep tissue focuses on one or two areas of the body per session.  I use heated jade stone to soften the tissue and then use cross fiber friction to loosen adhesions in the muscles. The work is deep, slow, specific, and can in some cases cause mild soreness in the tissue for a day or two after.  This one is no joke.  Be ready to breathe!!!!

Jade Stone:
Relax and unwind with this extremely pampering massage! The heat will soothe your muscles and prepare them for deeper work. Alternating temperature (hot and cold) increases circulation, energizes, cleanses internal organs / systems, naturally strengthens your immune system, and enhances your overall sense of well being.

Body Part Express! If you are in a hurry or just want to have your shoulders, back, hips, or any other specific body part addressed you can hop on the table for 20 minutes, and then we can send you on your way!

*Please note I don’t use oil, so your skin won’t be slippery after!

Massage appointments will be available every Tuesday and Thursday and the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
Please contact Sabrina directly with any questions or to book a session.

Sabrina Jackson (424) 288-9951
