The first conservatory-style program for circus/theatre in the US, this 2-year intensive program offers professional quality training in theatrical circus performance to students with advanced level circus skills. Train with some of the top circus and theatre instructors in the world!
In the first year, a strong emphasis is placed on creation, innovation and experimentation, while also honing technique in movement and physical theatre, acting and improvisation, as well as individual and ensemble acrobatics and dance. Students in this program train a minimum of 20 hours per week, focusing on their main discipline (various aerial apparati, hand-balancing, contortion, object manipulation or clowning) and work to incorporate theatre, storytelling and expression into their skill work.
Second-year students focus on creating an individual act and an ensemble production. In addition to performance, students at this level learn all aspects of theatre from costumes and make-up to lighting, stage management, rigging and marketing. Students develop their personal portfolio and finish the program ready to embark on their careers as performers.
