Gravity Defying 101- Designed for intermediate level aerial students, this class focuses on various climbs, movements, combinations, drops and descents. Students will explore original methods of climbing and gaining altitude. On the spectrum of most efficient to most decorative/aesthetic climbs, the students will learn a wide variety. The basic families of drops—including twisting, frontwards, sliding, and some miscellaneous will also be covered. This workshop will include a thorough warm-up and will end with conditioning.

“Ropeology”- Advanced/Professional: This workshop will cover a wide variety of material amassed from sources across the globe which is of interest to artists who already have a strong familiarity with rope and/or tissue. Unusual climbs and movements that seem to defy gravity, or at least work with it originally. High level locked and open drops will be presented for those who are ready. Also, Terry and Jukka will teach some sequences of movement from their own repertoire.

America’s Got Talent!
Congratulations to KT Troupe performers Hannah Finn, Scott Renkes and Darren Kessner and KT coach Anatoly Koshelev for making it through the preliminary audition for America’s Got Talent! The performers  auditioned in front of the show’s producers on Sat. Jan. 30th. We know you guys got talent, best of luck with the show!

Youth Summer Circus Camps Want to keep your little monkeys from hanging from the curtains or trying juggle your antique vase collection this summer? JUNE 28: RIGGING 101

Learn the basics of circus rigging: -terminology and materials-ratings-knot tying-steel vs. aluminum -hanging a trapeze, rope, tissue-using a pulley system-and more!

If you are an aerialist or just want to learn more about circus rigging this workshop is for you!

Taught by Kinetic Theory rigger Daniel Gutierrez. Daniel was trained in rigging in the U.S. Coast Guard and has since put his skills to work for many circus and aerial dance companies including: Capacitor, AcroSports City Circus, Sky Dancers Aerial Dance Festival and more. He has taught rigging at Cal State Northridge and AcroSports in addition to training many aerialist and aerial dance companies. Daniel has also worked in the theatre for the past 10 years and currently serves as the Technical Director of Shotgun Players’ The Ashby Stage in Berkeley.

AUGUST 23: TISSUE INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

Taught by the amazing David Garcia! David is an experienced tissue artist and one of the only men worldwide specializing in aerial contortion. He has performed with AcroSports City Circus, Velocity Circus, Make-A-Circus and the Vau de Vire Society to name a few. He has also been coaching gymnastics and circus arts for the past 8 years and was the head aerial coach and circus program director at AcroSports, one of San Francisco’s top circus schools. David is also a renowned costume designer and make-up artist and is known for single handedly “beautifying” the Bay Area circus community.
